Christmas Traditions.....

For the past few years, Ryan and I have been trying to set up our own traditions with our kids. We have incorporated some from his childhood and some from mine but lots of our own. One of our most favorite is pin the beard on Santa. This happens Christmas Eve and "Santa" is usually some poor unsuspecting guest that thinks they are just there to enjoy themselves but they usuallly end up getting their eye poked out! Another tradtion that we've done for the past few years is buying Christmas ornaments for our tree. We usually get our tree up and then head out to find that special ornament that makes the kids smile. Everyone picks out their own so we get quite the assortment. This year, these were the picks......

Ryan - Santa on a crazy carpet
Missy - Pickle
Tatum - Candy Sucker
Keegan - Leopard print car
Scoutt - Dancing Frog

We had so much fun putting the ornaments on the tree after we bought them. It's quite a process....the kids have to find the perfect spot for their ornaments. They are so proud and excited about them. They went over and got Nana(our wonderful neighbor who is their "fill-in" grandma since the others aren't right here) and showed her the ornaments they bought. They are leaving spaces on the tree for their homemade ornaments from school too! It's such a fun tradition.

Now, onto some of the others......like doing the "12 days of Christmas" to an unsuspecting family in the ward. We've got one picked and are getting everything ready for them!!! Hopefully we wont get caught! Wish us luck!!!

I love your pickle.

We have a pickle too. But, there is a story with it. You hide the pickle on the tree Christmas Eve and the first person to find it the next morning gets a special gift.

We bought a pickle this summer at Banff. We can't wait to play the game! We also bought an ornament for Isaac and has his name and birthday written on it. It's super cute! I can't wait to get stockings for our home! The best ones were the ones I grew up with...knitted so they STRETCH!
